‘Tomato Pill’ - Ateronon - the lycopene supplement based on clinical research
Ateronon™ is a natural lycopene supplement and the only one that contains LactoLycopene™, a unique patented formulation proven to increase lycopene levels in the blood.
Lycopene is derived from tomatoes and is widely believed to be a key contributor to the healthy Mediterranean diet. However, lycopene has a crystalline structure that is difficult for the body to absorb. The Mediterranean method of cooking tomatoes in olive oil breaks the lycopene crystals down, so making the health benefits of lycopene available from the Mediterranean diet. But eating enough cooked tomatoes in this way every day is difficult, and so Ateronon has been designed to provide easily-absorbed lycopene in capsule form.
Ateronon was developed by Cambridge scientists, assisted by funding from the British Heart Foundation, to get over the problem of lycopene absorption. Each Ateronon capsule contains 350mg of LactoLycopene, which provides 7mg of highly bio-available (= absorbable) lycopene.
One Ateronon capsule provides the body with the same amount of lycopene as found in 2.2lbs (1kg) of tomatoes cooked in the Mediterranean way, in olive oil.
This is achieved by combining lycopene with whey protein, to form our patented ingredient, LactoLycopene™. There is extensive published scientific data which suggest health benefits for both lycopene and whey protein.
CamNutra’s in-house scientists and clinicians manage an on-going programme of clinical trials to demonstrate the potential multiple health benefits of taking Ateronon.
Ateronon's positive study data from Cambridge University in the UK have been widely reported in the media and further research is being followed up in Boston in a multi-million dollar study by Harvard Medical School's lycopene expert, Professor Howard Sesso.
No other lycopene product has been subjected to such rigorous independent clinical studies. The research into Ateronon and its effectiveness has generated a great deal of media interest over several years. It is often referred to as “The Tomato Pill”, and has been reported prominently in national newspapers and on TV

“I had heart by-pass surgery 3 years ago because of high cholesterol, so its extremely important to now keep it in check. I take a statin and my LDL was still around 100.(ideally below 70) after combining Ateronon with my medication my last check-up was at 74 LDL 94 total. I am extremely happy with the results. I plan to keep Ateronon as part of my regular routine. Thanks so much for your product as I believe it could be a life saver.”
“I started taking Ateronon in January 2013, and progressively felt more energy to do things I had in the past asked others to do for me like clean off and anti foul and polish a 52ft boat!! I suffered a lot of family stress in early September (2012) and suffered a Heart Attack. My recovery has been remarkable, and my doctors could not believe it and told me my heart seems not to have suffered any damage, as my blood pressure was a constant 78/130 at the time on my attack by blood was 2550, but the attack was a mild one, they thought with such a reading it should have been more severe, I put it down to Ateronon!! my private doctor also feels the same.”
“After reading various articles in the press and magazines I researched your company on the internet and found Ateronon. I have now, with the blessing of my GP, taken Ateronon for three months and after a fasting cholesterol test my level is down to 6.3. Absolutely delighted, and a very much relieved person thanks to you people. May you go from strength to strength.”
“I have been to my cardiologist today. He told me that my heart has gain a lot in strength over the past 6 months. I'm also diabetic, and for the first time, they LOWERED the dose of medication that I have to take in daily. It is since my first intake of Ateronon somewhat 3 months ago that I started to feel much better! So this is the first time since my heart attack in December 2011 that they lower my medication. ”
